One result of the Psychic Fair sessions is that I met Kevin MacIvor. Earlier in the decade he had, with Bobby Tak and Bob Rupe, formed a band called The Bobs. The had released an EP that was well received and were a tight, talented unit. Bobby Tak had previously been the drummer for South Florida pop/punk heroes The Cichlids.

The Psychic Fair track I worked with Kevin on ("People Who Read") Was Bill Henryıs Bobs tribute and I suppose Kevin appreciate my ability to adapt to that style. Because one day, not long afterwards I got a call from Kevin. Bobby was back and they wanted to re-form The Bobs, and was I interested? Duh! The band was re-christened Bob Went Bad as the original name was in use by a unrelated, signed band. Although it was an interesting project, Bobby Tak had developed a major James Brown fetish, not to mention trying to use me as his personal car service, since he didnıt have a car. White boys playing in a funky band, indeed!

At last, F! Where do I begin? F is Angelo is Flash is the singer in the band(s) that lead off this entire collection on volume one. A man who loves rock and has a unique and unwavering vision on what his music is. In a righteous world he would be a star. But for whatever reason (location, location, location, anyone?) his endless creativity is a overlooked font of aggression, sincerity and integrity.

The tracks here are four studio demos from late in my stay with F. I actually played with F for about two and a half years I think. With his four track (the same one borrowed for Legerdemain on disc 5) we also recorded at least two additional albums worth of original material. The live songs are from a truly nasty dive called the Jockey Pub. I was the "house band" there for about a year, jamming most weekends with whatever band was playing there, well into the early morning hours (see "Roadhouse Jam" on volume 8). Although F was for the most part a hard rock band, the Jockeyıs three-set policy inspired Angelo to unleash an eclectic list of cover songs, a few of which are included here.
